new update

So I know I have not been keeping up on this. this is just some pictures through out the growing season that I took on my phone. The hops are starting to come in a little more. I have at least one viable plant from each of the 2 types I planted. I have also been reassured that they do not come in well at all the first year. I am hoping year 2 provides me with gallons of beer.... YUM..... The parsnips have still decided they do not want to grow I do not know if i got bad seed or what. not a single plant. On another note the corn Is waist high now and has little tiny baby corns. I also have green tomatoes and little peppers and baby zucchini. I am still fighting what i thought was the bunnies but the deer are in there too. Ohh time to go get the shot gun. Come here little deer get your snacky snack. of course i am going to wait until it is season to shoot them than its war. I saw a small pray-mantis he was brown and about 3 inches long i stopped him from his meandering through the tomato plants to tell him that the tomato plants is a safe place to live along with in the other veggies. plenty of food and safety from birds. he seemed to listen and meander on his way to get some more bugs. I decided his name is prayny. I Have included some pictures below. This is the garden now we are dusting the plants with lime to help keep the bugs down. we will see how it works.

Been a while

So its been a while. I have started to cut the pac choi for the first cutting. It is great. It has a great flavor the strawberries are great. Everything but the parsnips came up I replanted the parsnips. I did a second planting of spinach. I also did not get the rosemary to come up.  everything else is growing well. The corn might, let me emphasise MIGHT be knee high by the 4th of July.I know only have one hops plant because I think its a bunny is eating them along] with the yellow beans and other things. I am thinking time to sit out with the 22 rifle and watch for MR. BUNNY to show up and teach him a lesson.

Pday +14

So the hops plants are planted. all 10 of them. Out of the 10 of them there are 4 fugal of which 2 are already through the ground and 6 centennial of which 1 is through the ground. I also planted some Bleeding hearts flower roots. I have tilled the garden this last week and can start to identify the plants coming up. Tons of beets. Note to try to spread the beets out a little more the seed was really good. The lima beans are up and starting to get somewhat big. I do not know if i said anything about making the soil. I used leaf mulch and home made charcoal Its working great keeping the weeds down and the soil moist. This week was kinda rough had lots of family in town. Smoked some pork the day we did garden work. It rocked. The big truck that is to move mulch and stuff is up and running and the new copper nickel brake lines are great. The rear spring mounts are going to be replaced the ford dealer needed some help finding the right parts. It is a 1978 ford F350 with the 2 and a 1/4 inch springs and helper springs. This means it is made to carry a tank, Like army tank. I still need to plant the pear tree. Also the cabbage did not stay alive so I planted seed just in the ground we will see how it goes. The straw berries are coming in already. They are good if everything else looks pretty good. I need to make more charcoal and see If I can mix some mulch with Charcoal and compost. I also have to thank Bataglias garden center on route 59 In Kent/ Revena. The man that works there. helped me out. I took pictures of the tomato plants to him he not only told me what to use but brought me a fertilizer that he uses. Yes he refused to charge me and helped big time. I give blame him for all my plants surviving. horse radish is doing great cover in the home made mulch I made already. and sun flowers are doing well.  well thats the news happy gardening.

P DAY +6

So the beans are coming up along with many other things. The corn is on its way up. I am happy to see this going well. I also started making some composted soil type stuff Its a special recipe so when I get the hops garden tilled up. I have to get the big tractor up and running. yes i Started trying to till the hops garden. This did not go well the soil is very compact. I tried using the gravely tiller This is like the beast of tillers it did not work. I am going to have to get the FORDSON out. Yes this means it is a beast of a tractor. I also need to salvage a board from the barn so i can make my large climbing thing. We will see how it goes. I will take pictures of it soon. once I get it in. thanks for p day plus 6

P DAY

So yesterday was P Day Its kinda like D day but a little Better. This I know there is an End to the madness. So Nothing like picking the hottest day in a long time. The morning started around 10 am. I Hear mom say Shawn is hear. Ends up Shawn's sister came also. Her name is Chris. So Dad Started things off by tilling the top 2 inches this made it very easy to use hands to plant the plants. It took all day to plant because we had to come in many times to cool down. It was really really really hot. We made a rough list of what is in the garden also 17 rows check the pictures at the bottom. After a few hours of planting we came in to eat lunch. Thank you mom for cooking lunch and making some good food. If you must know it was turkey hot dogs, barbecue chips, broccoli slaw, and  beans. After lunch and some major re hydrating we went back to planting we got about 4 rows done then would have to stop because of the heat. So once we got everything planted we had to water it all. talk about a deep watering it stayed wet for a whole 24 hours. well thats P day in a nut shell.
